Attendance

Please call the school office to let us know if your child will be absent or late for school.  Students will be marked tardy after 8:10 am.  Cumulative attendance will be reported on report cards.

Arrival and Dismissal

Students may enter the school building at 7:45 am.  Dismissal is at 3:30 pm. Parents will pick up their children outside the building either by driving through the pick up line, or parking and picking up their students from the teachers.  All cars will be assigned a pick up number to facilitate efficient identification of students.  Please communicate and help your child learn his or her pick up number.

Food Service

GVA does not have cafeteria services at this time.  We ask that students come to school with home-prepared lunches.  Milk is available for .40 cents. Please do not include soda or candy in your child's lunch boxes.

Students are encouraged to bring healthy snacks and drinks (water bottles are allowed) for snack time.

Homework

The purpose of homework is to reinforce classroom lessons, and  to teach children good work habits.  In most cases, homework will be sent home on Mondays and will be due on Fridays.  Children should spend approximately 10 minutes per grade level on their homework, in additionl to 10 to 15 minutes per night reading.

Visitors

Parents and visitors must check in at the front reception desk. They will be provided a visitors badge to wear in the building.
