GVCC AWARDED 2013 RUSSIAN STARTALK GRANT!
Global Village Academy has been awarded a Russian STARTALK grant 2013. STARTALK is one of the component programs of the National Security Language Initiative (NSLI) announced by former President Bush in January of 2006. The initiative seeks to expand and improve the teaching and learning of strategically important world languages that are not now widely taught in the US. STARTALK is orchestrated the National Foreign Language Center at the University of Maryland. STARTALK’s overall mission is to increase the number of Americans learning, speaking, and teaching critical need foreign languages by offering creative and engaging summer learning experiences for students and innovative professional development for teachers. The Russian immersion camps will run 8:30AM - 12:00PM, June 17 - 28, 2013 and will take place at the Northglenn Campus. The fee for the two week camp is $100. Students are required to commit to attend both weeks. Registration is open to students entering K-5th grade. The camp will focus on literature and technology.
